| Scope of Activity: |
The course is designed to provide a novice enthusiast with
the necessary skills and sound grounding in the principles of Sailing that
will allow the individual to participate in sailing a dinghy or catamaran
whilst under the direct supervision of a qualified Sailor Level II or above.

You will be sailing on the Canoe Reach of
the Brisbane River (adjacent to Graceville/Tennyson)

 | $55.00 Full live in course Friday through
to Sunday - Includes meals and accommodation. |

participants youth members, leaders must be completed and returned along
with all fees ($55) to

| Prerequisites: |
Prior to arriving at the course all participants will have :
 | Knowledge of all Boating and Safety Rules as set out in P & R and
Queensland Branch Policies and Procedures. |
 | First Aid Qualifications - Youth: Be able to demonstrate how to stop
bleeding, how to treat shock, the dangers of exposure to cold and the sun,
a knowledge of the treatment for marine stingers and EAR/CPR. |
 | First Aid Qualifications Adults: Provide a photocopy of current Senior
First Aid Certificate with current Resuscitation endorsement. |
 | Swimming Youth Be able to swim 50 meters fully clothed wearing a
PFD. |
 | Swimming Adults be able to swim 100 meters fully clothed wearing a
PFD |
 | Knots All participants must be able to tie and state the use of the
following knots:
 | Bowline |
 | Sheet bend |
 | Figure of eight - single, on the bite and returned |
 | Rolling Hitch on a standing line |
 | Round turn and two half hitches |
 | Fisherman knot |
 | Hunters bend |
 | Highwaymans hitch |
 | Truckies hitch |
 | Cleat hitch |
 | Eye Splice |
 | Common whipping and Sail makers whipping |

| Parking: |
Parking facilities are available at the centre for the
duration of the course but vehicle owners do so at their own risk.
|
| Personal Requirements: |
All youth members must bring C4 (Parent
consent form), signed by either Parent and or Guardian. Leaders will need to
complete a "Leader Training Application Form A15".
Should youth members be attending as a group with
their Leader then the Leaders will be also be responsible for obtaining
their own "Activity Advice and Approval C5".
NOTE: No signed C4 (Parent consent forms) or A15, no
activity participation.

 | Sailing Clothes shorts, long sleeve shirt with collar no swimming
costumes. |
 | Spare change of Clothes for use in and around the centre. |
 | Enclosed shoes i.e. sandshoes, wet shoes (NO HIKING BOOTS) that
can get wet and very muddy. |
 | Second pair of shoes for use at the centre when off the water Thongs
and open footwear not allowed. |
 | Wind jacket / Jumper. |
 | Raincoat or rain jacket. |
 | Water bottles. |
 | Waterproof torch. |
 | Sleeping bag, sleeping mat (on floor),
pyjama's and pillow. |
 | Toilet kit and Towel. |
 | Mess kit. |
 | A4 Pad and biros for taking notes. |
 | Wide brimmed floppy hat with chin strap. |
 | For people wearing glasses material to tie your glasses. |
 | Insect repellent no spray cans. |
 | Sunscreen. |
 | Garbage bag - for your wet clothes. |
 | Do not bring radios, tape decks or music systems. |
 | Do not bring lollies with individual wrappers.

| Registration and Times: |
 | Registration will commence from 7.30pm Friday night |
 | Opening Parade Friday Night Full Uniform 8.15pm |
 | Final Parade Sunday Full Uniform 3.30pm
|
Please Note! During the course of the weekend all participants are
required to assist with the washing down and safe storage of all
equipment used on the course NO EXCEPTIONS.
